Attached is the press release from MANSA president, Mr Patrick Tan in regards of the GST relief for the purchase of hearing aids/ hearing related devices. This is a great news for us as healthcare professional as well as those who need the devices. We look forward for stronger voice to bring our audiology industry to a better future and expanding our care to those with hearing impairment.

Allied Health Professions Act Draft Presentation on June 2016

Presentation of all the 18 Regulations (First Draft) within the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Act. During the Q&A session,the committee responsible to draft the Regulations took note on some of the concerns and statements that may need to be amended.

At this moment, the AHP Council has yet to be established. Committees of each professions will need to discussed the detailed regulations and customised according to each profession. The committee of Audiology Profession will meet on 8th and 9th August to draft the regulations for Audiology Profession.

Dialogue with UIA

on 03 June 2016, Mansa President, Mr Patrick Tan had a dialogue with Dr.Noraidah (Head, Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences, IIUM)20160603_142338 (Dialogue with HOD Audiology IIUM) 2

Among things that were discussed:

  1. Involvement of MANSA in new Audiology students orientation
  2. Collaboration of future activities e.g. Industrial Audiology/Noise-Induced related seminars
  3. The current situation of Audiology field
  4. Standardisation of Audiology practices in Malaysia

We look forward to have a stronger collaboration with the university and inspired students who holds the future of audiology industry.

 

 

AHPis Registration Process

Dear MANSA members,

With the implementation of the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Act 2016 (Act 774), all practising allied health professionals within the 23 professions mentioned in the Act are required to register themselves in the Allied Health Professions Information System (AHPis) to prepare for the implementation of “Practising Certificate”. Therefore, with the steps attached below, we hope all MANSA members are able to do the registration swiftly.

Student Scholarships

Dear ISA members and Affiliate Societies,

The International Society of Audiology (ISA) is pleased to offer a small number of student scholarships to the 33rd World Congress of Audiology, to be held from  September 18 to 21, 2016 in Vancouver.  The scholarships, in the amount of U.S. $1,500 are sponsored by the ISA.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1.     A full time student in an institution of higher learning taking courses in audiology and preferably working towards a degree in audiology or hearing science. Graduates who will be completing their degree in 2016 may also apply;
2.     A current Student Member of the International Society of Audiology;
3.     The paper is accepted by the WCA2016 for presentation. If the student has more than one paper accepted by the WCA2016, s/he should submit only one paper for consideration; and
4.     The research should represent the applicants’ own work and have not been presented or published elsewhere.

Latest news on AHP Bill

The Allied Health Professions Bill 2015 was passed at Dewan Rakyat on 20th October 2015 with majority voice vote. This Bill is aimed at setting up a Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council to regulate the practise of health professions in the country. The Act when adopted will entail regulating 23 professions in allied health including audiologists. The next step is the procedural reading at the Dewan Negara , targeted in December 2015 before it is being implemented.
